Wow-This was absolutely wonderful! We made some changes as we had different ingredients, but all organic, non-GMO~ We had all fresh organic beets and sweet potatoes radishes and carrots with fennel nutmeg with 2tbsp. organic sweet chili sauce, 1tbsp.Dijon garlic mustard, olive oil and the 'leaves' from the fennel with coarsely chopped garlic 2/3 cloves garlic... mmm cloves would have been good in this too actually! We boiled the beets sweet potatoes for a few minutes as directed and then transferred them to the skillet of only carrots and olive oil. Then, layered firmest to softest with sweet potatoes on top with greens and sauce poured over and let sit with top slightly venting to saute. We served with lemon spinach couscous and w/ diced celery- I am a big fan of cilantro but I didnt have any but that would have incorporated well also :) And even though there were soo many flavors working together but balanced perfectly- even with a mango/passion fruit juice Delicious!!! <3

This place is wonderful! I really enjoy the Appetizer sampler, the Channa Batura and several of the Baturas. Plan to take some home with you as the portions (when you want to try a little of everything) are good for two people plus. The service is so good, very fast and servers are friendly and very helpful (if you are not used to the names) Now if only I knew how to cook these great Indian dishes in my own home!

The Cuzamil in Squirrel Hill (I can't speak for the one downtown) is terrible. Not only is it overpriced, but for the money you are getting some pretty rotten food. The entres are hit and miss. I'll admit that some of them aren't bad, but even these are often so salty that you have to stop half way through. Worse than the main courses are the chips and salsa they bring to each table. The salsa has no spice, and seems to be straight out of a jar. The chips are ALWAYS stale--every single time I've been there. This, to me, is the biggest crime because it shows what sort of care (i.e. none) they have for the product they produce and the customers they serve. And as if that wasn't bad enough, they want to charge you for a second basket of chips! The nerve. They should pay ME to eat their chips, not the other way around.

If you want to get real Mexican food, don't go to this place. Go to Mexico City in downtown. They bring out endless chips that are right out of the friar (still so hot they burn your tongue). And the tacos are unforgettable.

I was really excited when a Mexican place opened in Sq. Hill (I'm from LA and had been disappointed with how little Latin American cuisine was here in Pittsburgh. I'm sorry to say that Cuzamil is just a tease, not the real thing. Don't let your desperate cravings take you to such a crappy place. You won't walk out feeling satisfied.

If you ever go back for entrees, I particularly recommend the Paneer Tikka Makhni and the Saag Paneer. Their Aloo Ghobi is also quite good.

Hey, this is similar to my recent addition of cocoa powder to the tomato-based curried chili I've been making...not quite to the level of mole sauce, but the chocolate gives the curry an incredible amount of depth.
